Antsanitia

AMANTA GROUP

The AMANTA story began some twenty years ago, with the conviction of Edgard VALERO, who believed that tourism could exist in a different way, without being synonymous with the destruction of the environment. The project came to fruition in 2008, during a trip to Madagascar and the first opportunity to get his ideal place out of his dreams: a lost paradise, sheltered from the consumerist Western world, in the heart of the Madagascan village Antsanitia, which you don’t pass through without leaving a deep-rooted memory. This is the hôtel Antsanitia.

Amanta is an independent hotel group that is experiencing a dual dynamic of strong development and structuring.

Why is this? Because creating places to live is a huge and exciting challenge. First there’s the excitement of the project: building, transforming, inventing, planning, financing, convincing, believing… Then there’s the enthusiasm of the realisation: moving forward, waiting, starting again, doing and sometimes redoing, to finally see the project come to life.

We now operate 7 establishments, which are designed to function as ecosystems integrated into their local and cultural environment. Four are located in the Indian Ocean (Madagascar, Mayotte and La Réunion) and two near La Rochelle, where our head office is based. AMANTA’s vision is built around the creation of a collection of eco-resorts in France and the Indian Ocean, with the aim of creating multi-destination holidays based on the group’s ecological and humanist values. They all want to pass on these values to their tourists and involve them in their desire to continue discovering the world, while leaving a positive impact on the environment and the local community.

At Amanta, we believe that travel can have a purpose. That’s why we want our establishments and spaces to help you reconnect with nature.

We want our guests to be able to take the time to share, to eat well, but also to explore hidden villages, take photos and why not let themselves be carried away.

The Amanta group is your guarantee of a warm, personalised welcome, quality accommodation and home-cooked meals based on local, seasonal produce.

Staying at an Amanta establishment also means discovering expertise, sharing common values, taking part in slow food activities, exploring (un)known territories… A taste of the good life, naturally!

Our values

All our establishments are proud of their uniqueness, but all share the same values:

  • Humility and sincerity: Keeping an open mind, remaining a good listener, acknowledging our mistakes and accepting those of others, adapting – for us, this is a prerequisite for continuous improvement, questioning and change.
  • Boldness: Our boldness is knowing how to surprise our customers, transport them and introduce them to unexpected experiences. In any business, you have to cultivate doubt. Doubt preconceived ideas, question what everyone else considers to be an absolute truth, think differently.
  • Commitment: Commitment to more sustainable and engaged tourism has been an integral part of our values since our origins. We are in favour of a return to the essential values that travellers are looking for: human contact, local attachment and respect for the environment.
  • Respect for Others and Nature: We place the members of our teams at the centre, so that everyone participates in the positive evolution of our approach. Our hotels are places where different people share, whether they be our staff or our customers. Preserving the environment means respecting local culture. It is important for us to be part of the places where we are located.
  • Benevolence and empathy: It is important to us to pay attention to the environment around us, at all levels. Each Amanta establishment is committed to acting in a sustainable development approach for the respect of Others and Nature
  • Trust: Trust in others, in ourselves, in the future. The trust you place in us is paramount. It is an important responsibility that drives us to bring you the best of ourselves in all our missions.

Our mission

Amanta’s mission is to participate in the development of virtuous tourism.

Our vision

Amanta builds and runs living spaces conducive to encounters with nature, Others and ourselves.

  • Anticipating, inventing more resilient models to survive the upheavals associated with the transition: diversifying our offering, daring to hybridise markets and concepts, daring to embrace complexity.
  • Positioning art, culture, cuisine and environmental education at the heart of our customer experience: this through genuine support and highlighting of local players and artists.
  • Territorial roots: We value local culture, our hotels are an expression of the territory in which they are located. We are keen to help guests discover it through the excursions we offer. Each of our establishments is a gateway to a community.
  • Establishments on a human scale, between 30 and 60 accommodation units. In order to always be as close as possible to our customers, but also to our employees. We want to offer hotels with unique charm, in authentic locations with personalised service, to appeal to customers who are adept at the slow life.
  • Mutualisation, federation, collective intelligence: We are convinced that collective intelligence is the most relevant response to the challenge of complexity. It alone can generate sustainable buy-in, empowerment and cooperation among teams.
  • Aware of the oxymoron of tourism: the idea of ecotourism is not to be perfect on the ecological issue, or to never get on a plane again, it’s to try to do the best we can. We are constantly looking for new forms of tourism, questioning our ability to offer a tourism offering that is in line with sustainable development. When travel is done well, it can be a vector of positivity in many areas: human, economic and educational.
  • Including nomadism in a sustainable world approach, rethinking lifestyles: The development of teleworking and the flexibility it brings are contributing to a major change in travel habits and journeys. There is now a growing attraction to nomadism and potentially a change of lifestyle. This allows customers to stay longer and immerse themselves in their holiday destination. More and more countries and destinations are changing their visa rules to encourage travellers to stay for a few months.
  • Travel is a valuable source of human and cultural enrichment, and a wonderful way to open our minds – but, as we know, it is also a polluting act. To promote sustainable tourism and reduce our carbon footprint, we’re now opting for a longer stay.

What is a responsible establishment according to Amanta?

Geographical location allowing a strong connection with the destination

  • Each establishment is designed in harmony with its surroundings and represents an excellent starting point for experiencing a deep sense of belonging. Drawing inspiration from local geography, architectural styles or regional tastes and traditions, each hotel offers a unique richness that is as authentic as it is unforgettable.

Ecoconstruction

  • Our hotels are fully committed to environmental preservation.

Environmental performance

  • 1% of the world’s carbon emissions come from the hotel industry. On our own scale, we have a duty to limit our footprint, and protect our environment. Literally firstly, because our homes are historic residences set in exceptional natural sites, and figuratively secondly, because we are part of a more global environmental responsibility.

Awareness of the natural and cultural environment

  • We want to offer our residents, both a premium and quality service, but we also have the desire to instil an eco-responsible approach, in order to preserve the regional heritage and its treasures.

Mixed clientele

  • Family holidays by the sea, sports holidays with friends, romantic moments as a couple, business meetings, we do everything we can to guarantee you the best experiences.

Comfort and tranquillity

  • Our establishments guarantee privacy and serenity throughout your stay. Proximity and discretion, we are there for you when you need us, the rest of the time, enjoy our hotel at your leisure, as if you were at home.
