The AMANTA story began some twenty years ago, with the conviction of Edgard VALERO, who believed that tourism could exist in a different way, without being synonymous with the destruction of the environment. The project came to fruition in 2008, during a trip to Madagascar and the first opportunity to get his ideal place out of his dreams: a lost paradise, sheltered from the consumerist Western world, in the heart of the Madagascan village Antsanitia, which you don’t pass through without leaving a deep-rooted memory. This is the hôtel Antsanitia.
Amanta is an independent hotel group that is experiencing a dual dynamic of strong development and structuring.
Why is this? Because creating places to live is a huge and exciting challenge. First there’s the excitement of the project: building, transforming, inventing, planning, financing, convincing, believing… Then there’s the enthusiasm of the realisation: moving forward, waiting, starting again, doing and sometimes redoing, to finally see the project come to life.
We now operate 7 establishments, which are designed to function as ecosystems integrated into their local and cultural environment. Four are located in the Indian Ocean (Madagascar, Mayotte and La Réunion) and two near La Rochelle, where our head office is based. AMANTA’s vision is built around the creation of a collection of eco-resorts in France and the Indian Ocean, with the aim of creating multi-destination holidays based on the group’s ecological and humanist values. They all want to pass on these values to their tourists and involve them in their desire to continue discovering the world, while leaving a positive impact on the environment and the local community.
At Amanta, we believe that travel can have a purpose. That’s why we want our establishments and spaces to help you reconnect with nature.
We want our guests to be able to take the time to share, to eat well, but also to explore hidden villages, take photos and why not let themselves be carried away.
The Amanta group is your guarantee of a warm, personalised welcome, quality accommodation and home-cooked meals based on local, seasonal produce.
Staying at an Amanta establishment also means discovering expertise, sharing common values, taking part in slow food activities, exploring (un)known territories… A taste of the good life, naturally!
All our establishments are proud of their uniqueness, but all share the same values:
Amanta’s mission is to participate in the development of virtuous tourism.
Amanta builds and runs living spaces conducive to encounters with nature, Others and ourselves.
